Fun Ways to Celebrate the Fourth of July

There are plenty of ways to celebrate the Fourth of July—no matter what your age. Looking for some ways to spend the long holiday weekend? At The Reserve of Geneva, residents can take part in many Independence Day activities and events. Here are some fun and festive ideas for our residents, including parades, picnics, fireworks and more!

Enjoy a fireworks display.

Fireworks are a staple of Independence Day! If you enjoy fireworks, be sure to plan your evening in advance so that you know where to park and sit during the show. Take a look at community listings for display times in nearby communities, including Aurora, Oswego, St. Charles and Batavia, to name a few. Or check out Geneva’s Kane County Cougars fireworks on Sunday, July 2. Pack a few snacks, a comfortable blanket or chairs and a lightweight jacket in case it gets chilly!

Watch a community parade.

Parades are a fun way to celebrate the Fourth of July with friends and family in your community. Here at The Reserve, you don’t have to travel far to find an Independence Day parade. This year, you can find parades nearby in Aurora and Yorkville, both taking place on the morning of July 4.

Attend a backyard barbecue.

If you prefer small get-togethers with family and friends, then a cookout is the perfect way to spend your Fourth of July. If you do attend a party, offer to prepare your favorite summer side dish or dessert. Or host your own Independence Day celebration at The Reserve with a delicious spread of food and patriotic decorations.

Make red, white and blue crafts.

Whether it’s banners, wreaths or handmade flags, there are many fun and patriotic craft ideas to try. In the days leading up to the Fourth of July, gather with friends for a day of crafting, snacks and socializing. It’s also a great opportunity to bond with your grandchildren if they live nearby.

Honor veterans.

A great way to celebrate Independence Day is to remember those who have fought for our

freedom. Visit a local veterans cemetery and honor their lives by placing flowers or U.S. flags at their gravesites.

Happy Fourth of July from The Reserve.

The Fourth of July holiday is a wonderful time to gather with family and friends. Whether you

attend a parade, go on a picnic, complete a craft or watch a fireworks show, take the time to remember and appreciate the freedom we enjoy.
