At The Reserve of Geneva, we take pride in honoring the men and women who have served our country. Recognizing their dedication and sacrifice is an important part of our community culture and values. Our 55+ active adult community is proud to support our veteran residents and join the City of Geneva in celebrating their service.
What Is Veterans Day?
Veterans Day is observed each year on November 11 to mark the armistice that ended World War I in 1918. First called Armistice Day, it was renamed Veterans Day in 1954 to honor all U.S. military veterans.
While Memorial Day honors those who lost their lives in service, Veterans Day recognizes all who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. It’s a great time to pause, reflect, and thank those whose service has helped protect and shape our nation.
How Geneva Honors Its Veterans
Each November, the City of Geneva and its neighboring communities come together to recognize and thank local veterans. Nearby, the City of St. Charles will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. In Aurora, a Veterans Day procession will begin that same morning at 10:15 a.m., followed by a main ceremony at 11:00 a.m. Residents are encouraged to attend these events to show their gratitude and reflect on the sacrifices made by the men and women who have served our country.
Throughout November, additional activities take place across Geneva and Kane County. Local organizations and businesses host art exhibits, open houses, and educational programs that celebrate veterans and their families. Schools often invite veterans to share their stories with students, and the Geneva History Museum features exhibits that highlight the area’s proud military heritage. Together, these community events create meaningful opportunities for residents of all ages to honor and learn from those who have served.
